Detailed Vitamix 5300 Review: What Other Reviews Won’t Tell

vitamix 5300 review

When you love cooking, juicing, preparing meals, experimenting with ingredients, then you'd know the dilemma of choosing the best appliances you should use in your kitchen. One of the most crucial things to decide is what kind of blender you should buy.

Honestly, during my first years of cooking and preparing different meals, I find it difficult whether to go for this most talked product or not. Vitamix 5300 is one of the most recommended products I have heard. It's said that it does a good job when it comes to blending foods and addresses problems you might have been experiencing with your past blending machine.

Things You Should Consider When Buying a Blender Machine

vitamix 5300 review

Buying the best blender might be a crucial thing for others and normal for some. But for an aspiring chef, professional juicer and cooks out there; it's important as choosing the best ingredient for a specialty. Like any other things you need in the kitchen, here are some of the things you should consider when buying a blender machine.

1. Immersion or Countertop?

The countertop blenders are for the countertops. It comes with a large jar that is attached to a stand which contains the controls of the blender. This kind of blender is ideal for smoothies and food.

On the other hand, immersion blenders are small handheld blenders. It has a rotating blade at the long stick's end. They work as a blender of ingredients in bowls or glasses. It's ideal for sauce or soup.

2. Motor Horsepower

There are two types of horsepower that the blenders advertise, the peak horsepower which occurs when you turn on the blender, and the rated horsepower which is the power the motor can maintain. So, to avoid being tricked with the horsepower the blender has, check its wattage.

3. Available Controls

The blenders vary in controls, especially that manufacturers are different from one to another. There is another blender which comes in 3 speeds, while there are also others who have options for smoothie, puree, crushed ice and others.

There are also blenders which controls are manual. There's an option for changing speed if you want to blend faster, depending on the kind of texture you want to achieve. There are also programmed blenders which do the task for you while you still can do other tasks.

4. Material of the Jar

There are three types of jar available to most blenders: glass, polycarbonate, and stainless steel. There are a lot of people who don't consider these preferences, but for me, it's equally important as deciding what horsepower does the blender has.

First, is glass. It's heavy but easy to clean. But if you drop it, you can't use it again. Second, is polycarbonate or plastic. It's lighter than glass, but after many uses, it absorbs the stains and odors of the blended ingredients.

If you're concerned with the BPA content, you can buy the BPA-free one. Third, is stainless steel. It's lighter than glass and easy to glass. Its disadvantage is you can't see the ingredients being blended, so you have to check it always.

5. Budget

As what I've observed, the budget is sometimes overlooked. When you plan to buy something, anything, you should consider how much you're willing to pay for it so no regrets at the end. Once you already determined how much your budget is, your options would be narrowed down too.

Vitamix 5300 Review

The Vitamix 5300 comes with a low-profile container and a blender set with a low-profile tamper too. It is an updated version of the Classic Vitamix 5200 series but with better features. It's a powerful blending machine that blends chunky ingredients like vegetables and allows you to blend ingredients into what texture you like.

It is a 1/2 Next Generation and 1/2 Classic. It's a blending of 2 generations of blender components that make it unique; the housing is from Vitamix Classic, and the container is Next Generation Low-Profile.

This machine is suitable for you if you're looking for a blender that you can get the best results from, but you should remember too that its price is not the same as others so you should consider whether it's WORTH YOUR MONEY or not.

What We Like

  • The controls are very familiar to users of Vitamix.
  • Reliable desigan
  • The container is big and wide to handle blending batch for family meals.
  • The container fits in the kitchen cabinets.

What We Didn't Like

  • The included recipe book is not the greatest; you have to look for your recipe online.
  • It's 10dB's louder than other blenders because its motor power is 2.2HP.

Features and Benefits of Vitamix 5300

1. High-Performance Motor

Vitamix 5300 comes with a powerful 2.2 HP motor that propels blades through chunky ingredients that result to a high-quality blend. So it means that it won't fail you no matter how chunky your ingredients are. It's the highest horsepower motor specs that the company sells in the Home line.

The motor also maintains cool and torque temperature to deliver the power consistently whatever ingredient you have to process.

2. Lid

This blender machine's lid is removable, so it allows you to add the ingredients while you're blending. It allows you to create various textures in the same recipe you're making.

3. Variable Speed Control

The speed can be adjusted depending on the texture of the ingredient. To achieve complete control, you can rotate the dial at any point while you're blending. It means that you can adjust the speed, so the result of the texture will suit your taste.

4. Pulse Feature

Vitamix 5300 also has a pulse feature that chops thick vegetable soups and chunky salsas into smooth purees using its layer course.

There is a toggle control on both sides and a rotary dial at the center. The pulse function is located at the left control.

5. 64-ounce Container

The 64-ounce container fits comfortable under kitchen cabinets and is suitable for family meals. If your tabletop cabinets are low set, Vitamix 5300 is perfect especially that its pitcher is wide.

It's also a low-profile container which can usually be found in Next-Generation G-Series making Vitamix 5300 the only blender which uses it in a different series. No other C-series uses this container too.

6. 7-year Warranty

The machine has a 7-year full warranty which means that the company covers the performance, parts, and labor.

7. Blades

The blades used in this blender machine are made from stainless steel, and it's also an aircraft grade blade. It's also dull to the touch that makes the blending consistent. So, if you blend chunks of fruits and vegetables, you won't get disappointed.

8. Clean Setting

This blender machine can clean itself. You just add a small amount of dish soap and warm water to the container. Then, turn the machine on to low, increase the speed little by little until it's clean.

The self-cleaning option is a good way to break up the leftovers in the container, but you still have to do manual scrubbing after it.

Vitamix 5300 is more popular as the Costco Vitamix and is available from retailers. doesn't sell this blender as a brand new unit though, but you can buy the 5300 as the Vitamix Certified Reconditioned Model from the manufacturer.

I actually checked other reviews of this product, if it’s really worth the money. So far, despite the noise disadvantages it has, it seemed that this product gained positive responses from people who get to use it.

If you’re still doubting to buy Vitamix 5300 or not because it’s not on your budget, there are still few alternatives to this blender machine.

Vitamix 5200

The Vitamix 5200 is older than Vitamix 5300, like what I said 5300 is the improved version of 5300. People still use this blender because it doesn't produce too much noise like 5300 does. 5200 is on C-series which 5300 also belongs in, and it has a different container that isn't compatible with 5300.

It generates 2HP motor horsepower, a taller container and a self-cleaning feature. If you're on a tight budget but still wants to experience the power of Vitamix C-series, you can check out Vitamix 5200.

Like 5300, it's a versatile and high-performance blender that allows you to make meals easily with total control of the dial.

Vitamix 7500

Vitamix 7500 is a G-series Next Generation Blender. It claims to feature that it's 40% quieter than because of its advanced noise dampening feature. So, if you don't want a loud noise producing blender like 5300, you can have 7500 as an alternative.

This machine also has a better airflow, it means that the chance of overheating is lesser. This is also a low-profile and high-performance blender that can process large batch of ingredients.

Oster Versa

Oster versa is part of the new generation of Oster series that features BFA-free plastic pitchers. Its 1,400 watt motor actually rivals that of Vitamix 5200.

It provides versatility so it suits for people who like to make a lot of soups, smoothies, sauces, spreads and others. Its tamper helps the blender stuff nut butter and sorbets. If what the recipe you're doing doesn't have water, it's possible with Versa.

It has always been a dilemma when we try to chop off the chunky ingredients in our blenders, and the blades give up because it can’t do the work.

With Vitamix 5300, which is a high-powered, versatile and high-performance blender, we would be able to blend whatever ingredient we like without the fear of damaging it. Also, it fits in most kitchen cabinets, unlike those blenders who are tall and doesn’t fit in cabinets. Lastly, Vitamix 5300 gives you options to control the machine to your liking, so the dreamed texture of what you’re blending is achieved.

I will conclude this article by saying that you should give this blender a chance, check it out and see for yourself.
